New Week new releases, whats special this Friday

Thank God its Friday, here comes the Bar tender's chance to review the films releasing this Friday.  This Friday there are two major releases, one is Neeraj Pandey's Special Chabbis and other is Remo's 3D treat called Any Body Can Dance (ABCD). Lets take a look.
First let us talk about ABCD.  This 3D extravaganza is directed by Ace Choreographer, Remo D'Souza.

New Week new releases, whats special this Friday

This movie seems to be too predictable with Prabhu Deva and Kay Kay Menon being to dance masters who differ on issues and Prabhu Deva starts his own dance troupe, which ultimately wins.

If you are a fan of Dance India Dance, the reality TV show that airs on Zee TV, than this is the movie just for you.  The Bar tender thinks this is a mish mash of several Holly Bolly films like 'Step Up' and its siblings, 'Shall We Dance', 'Flash Dance', 'Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki', 'Disco Dancer', 'Street Dancer' etc.   You can pick and choose the movies on which this film is based.

From glitzy point of view the film is good with all the glam and dance moves + the 3D effect, but as a film, has a now familiar storyline of challenge between two dance troupes.  Other than the glam quotient this film will fail to attract any serious film viewers especially in the interior.  The songs are hummable but not that good to be chart busters.  The Bar tender predicts a humble opening with profits for the makers but nothing spectacular.

Watch the official trailer and decide for your self.  The Bar tender would have preferred to buy a DVD of 'Step up and enjoy the drinks.

The next one releasing tomorrow is Special Chhabis by Neeraj Pandey.  Yes the same Neeraj Pandey who gave a crisp and exciting 'A Wednesday'.  From the looks of it, this movie also is based on a true story about raids by fake CBI officers across India in 1980's.  So far so good but looks can be deceptive, so the Bar tender is a bit cautious.  On the whole the movie looks committed to its content, with Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher pairing as crooks.  The Bar tender feels that the film is based on Jimmy Shergill who is a cop but plays in the hands of crooks for easy money.  But as told above looks can be deceptive.  The Bar tender expected Bijoy Nambiar's David to outdo Shaitan, but sadly the film turned out to be a dud.

If you are a die-hard fan of Akshay and his thrills, you are gonna to be disappointed, as in this movie Akshay sports a different more conservative look.  The Bar tender predicts the film to be hit but nothing spectacular.

As discussed in the Bar
